(A minimum score of 71 on the iBT TOEFL, 530 on the PBT TOEFL, or 710 on the TOEIC is required for admission to this program)

Certificate Requirements

All certificate programs at UC Irvine Extension require professional-level English language proficiency in listening and note-taking, reading comprehension and vocabulary, written expression, and oral presentation. International students who do not meet certificate program admissions requirements are invited to enroll first in one of our English language program offerings.

Curriculum

Campus PhotoA certificate is awarded upon completion of the following eight required courses and the Professional Communication Seminar in an intensive six-month schedule with a grade of "C" or better in each course. These courses are specially designed daytime classes for international participants.

Introduction to an ACP

Gain an overview of the American highereducational system and acquire the academic skills to ensure your success in an ACP.

Professional Communciations Seminar (PCS)

This class is academically and culturally tailored to enhance your training in the ACP TEFL. Students will attend special lectures from experts in the field about various aspects of teaching English as a foreign language, have the opportunity to participate in local teacher conferences, and network with current ESL/EFL teachers.
