Partnership with Center for Media and Independent Learning (CMIL) offers students even more online learning opportunities
IRVINE, Calif. – September 6, 2000 – Distance learning has become increasingly more important in the education market. The Center for Media and Independent Learning (CMIL), a division of University of California Extension, provides university-level professional courses online. UC Irvine Extension, through a commitment to this highly desired method of learning and a partnership with CMIL, brings the convenience and flexibility of online learning to the Orange County community.
Through CMIL, the University of California is one of the first universities to offer courses online. As a premier provider of educational programs in high-demand fields, UC Irvine Extension now gives individuals the opportunity to update their professional skills or learn new ones on the web–a method students find most suitable to their busy schedules. All CMIL courses and instructors are approved by UCI, which is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Students work directly with skilled and experienced instructors.
Gary W. Matkin, UCI Dean of Continuing Education, states, "The educational market is constantly evolving. Professionals are seeking high-quality learning programs that accommodate their active schedules. UC Irvine Extension is dedicated to presenting these programs with convenience and accessibility for each individual."
The current Fall 2000 catalog offers online courses in Business, Management, Engineering, IT, Marketing, and Education. UC Irvine Extension's online catalog will continue to grow each quarter with both "click and mortar" classes that combine web and classroom delivery, and with "click only" courses.
