UC Irvine Extension Ranked Number 1 in the Country in Providing Oracle Training

Leader in Oracle Training, UC Irvine Extension, Announces Spring/Summer Certification Courses

IRVINE, Calif. – March 31, 2005 – The number-one provider of Oracle training in the country through the Oracle Workforce Development Program (WDP), UC Irvine Extension, is meeting the ever-growing needs of the information technology (IT) industry. As IT businesses continue to seek ways to serve customers more efficiently, the need to implement large-scale, secure databases continues to grow. UC Irvine Extension announces its spring/summer session certification program in Oracle Database Administration to continue to meet the demands of such businesses through its certification program.

According to industry analysts and experts, Oracle certifications are one of the most sought after marques of credibility for expertise in the information technology marketplace. Oracle Corporation launched WDP to address the continued global IT-worker shortage and need for accessible and low-cost IT skills training. WDP enables UC Irvine Extension to deliver training in full-time and part-time programs for Orange County students.

By being among the first to provide cutting-edge courses such as Oracle 10g, UC Irvine Extension continues to hold their position as a leader at the forefront of education for IT professionals. The newly unveiled Oracle 10g course addresses key issues such as performing standard database tasks, data backup and recovery procedures, administering the network and gaining the knowledge necessary to become an Oracle Certified Professional.

The UC Irvine Extension Oracle certificate program is designed to prepare students for Oracle certification testing. With the widely-acclaimed creditability of certification, UC Irvine Extension students are readied for a variety of entry-level Oracle job functions and career advancement.

“The demand for trained and knowledgeable database administrators is expected to grow over the next decade,” said Stefano Stefan, assistant director of information technology programs for UC Irvine Extension. “Because technology changes quickly, the need for professionals to keep abreast of new and updated IT programs is now greater than ever. By completing our certificate program, professionals will be better equipped to help organizations with their data storage.”

The certificate program targets all levels of information technology professionals in medium-to-large-size companies. Previous programming experience is not strictly necessary, but highly useful in learning how to submit data inquiries.

In order to receive certification in Oracle Database Administration, students must complete at least 15 units of coursework with a grade of “C” or better in each course. The certification requirements have become simpler with the introduction of Oracle 10g. Students must only pass two exams to become an Oracle Certified Professional.
