UC Irvine Instructors Receive Dean's Outstanding Service Award
Prestigious Awards Recognize Instructors in Residential, Commercial and Industrial Real Estate
IRVINE, Calif. – September 21, 2005 – University of California, Irvine Extension announced that Dr. Gary Matkin has presented the Dean's Outstanding Service award to ten Light Construction and Development Management (LCDM) and Marketing for the Residential Builder (MIRM) instructors and advisory committee members.
This award is presented to individuals who demonstrate a commendable effort in the advancement and support of UC Irvine Extension programs and students. Examples include: facilitation of scholarships or sponsorship of activity promoting outreach to ethnically diverse students, exceptional assistance to students in coursework or professional placement, and continually serving as resources for creative programming concepts.
"It's an honor to be selected for the Dean's Outstanding Service award," said Ron Saienni, award recipient and advisory committee member and past chairman of the LCDM programs. "My peers and I are dedicated to the success of these two programs." Other members of the LCDM and MIRM team who also received the award include James Futrell, Mike Hixson, Rita Lamkin, Bob Martin, Alice Sorenson, Dennis Sundstrom, Terryn O'Brien, Bob Odle and Glen Worthington.
These instructors and advisory board members were responsible for the Ruby Slippers Award that UC Irvine Extension was given in 2003 by the Building Industry Association, Orange County Chapter in recognition for the extraordinary contribution and commitment in addressing critical housing issues. In addition, several of these instructors are involved with the Home Builders Council of Southern California scholarship program that has awarded well over $100,000 to UC Irvine Extension LCDM students.
