UC Irvine Extension Offers an Online Course Essential to Pharmaceutical Professionals
School Integrates Online Technology to Provide Informative Course for Busy Professionals
IRVINE, Calif. – July 19, 2006 – Busy pharmaceutical professionals who don’t have the time to attend traditional classes, will now have the opportunity to enhance their careers as their schedules permit with UC Irvine Extension’s new online course offering, “Regulatory Requirements for Pharmaceutical Products.” The course begins Monday, September 25.
This is the first time UC Irvine Extension has offered the highly demanded course in an online format to accommodate professionals on the go. The course is designed for pharmaceutical professionals involved in drug discovery, manufacturing, quality control, and clinical studies.
“By understanding regulatory requirements in the pharmaceutical industry, students are contributing to the overall quality management factor for their company,” said Rogelio C. Rodriguez, director of engineering and science programs at UC Irvine Extension. “UC Irvine Extension expanded its course offerings to include ‘Regulatory Requirements for Pharmaceutical Products’ online in order to accommodate the lifestyles of busy professionals and allow them to stay abreast of this ever-changing industry in a time effective manner.”
Students will explore the intricate processes involved in the overall development of a pharmaceutical product. Topics covered include identifying the characterization of pharmaceutical products, assessing and implementing good manufacturing practices (GMP) and good laboratory practices (GLP) and understanding how to conform with regulatory compliance and risk management requirements. The importance of medical product labeling and how to write submissions to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will also be discussed.
