UC Irvine Extension Announces Articulation Agreement with Capella University

UC Irvine Extension Business Analyst Certificate program may be the first step for students who wish to earn a master’s degree at Capella University

IRVINE, Calif. / MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – August 1, 2006 – UC Irvine Extension, a charter endorsed education provider of the prestigious International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA), is pleased to announce its articulation agreement with Capella University. Students who complete the Business Analyst Certificate from UC Irvine Extension will be eligible to transfer up to 20 credits toward an online Master of Science in Information Technology at Capella University.

“The IIBA frequently refers students to our Business Analyst Certificate program,” said Stefano M. Stefan, Assistant Director of Business, Management, Legal and IT programs for UC Irvine Extension. “With this articulation agreement, those students can now get on the fast track toward completing a master’s degree in information technology.”

The UC Irvine Extension Business Analyst program is one of the few such programs in the nation and addresses a growing demand for business analysis skills. The certificate program consists of six required courses and one elective course, including the following:

  • Fundamentals of Business Analysis
  • Overview of Project Management for Business Analysts
  • Documenting and Analyzing User Requirements
  • Communicating Technical Concepts to Non-Technical Audience
  • Overview of Information Technologies for Business Analysts
  • Testing, Verification and Validation
  • “Through this articulation agreement, many UC Irvine Extension students are closer than they think to fulfilling their dream of obtaining a graduate degree in information technology,” said Kurt Linberg, Dean, School of Business & Technology, for Capella University.

Students who wish to transfer units must earn a grade of “B” or better in each class and have completed the entire program prior to admission to Capella University’s Master of Science in Information Technology general program. Both the internationally recognized UC Irvine Extension Business Analyst Certificate program and Capella University’s Master of Science in Information Technology program are offered online and are therefore available to students anywhere in the world.
