Students may drop a course anytime before the final class meeting. No refunds will be issued after the refund deadline of the course. In some cases, special refund deadlines may apply. Please refer to individual course descriptions and your enrollment confirmation. Not receiving your enrollment confirmation before the course begins is not justification for seeking a refund. A stop payment on a check does not constitute official withdrawal.
All refunds are subject to a $20 non-refundable processing fee per course except when courses are canceled, discontinued or rescheduled by UC Irvine Extension. If a course is canceled, discontinued or rescheduled by UC Irvine Extension, a full refund of the course fee will be processed.
Unless otherwise specified, the final refund date for courses is the start of the second class meeting. For courses with a single meeting, the refund deadline is prior to the start of class.
ESL Refunds
Full refunds on tuition and student services will be given with written notice of cancellation 30 days prior to the first day of classes. There will be a $100 cancellation fee if written notice is submitted 29 days prior to first day of class. Withdrawals during the first week of classes receive a 50% refund. Online Course Refund Policy
Refund requests for online courses must be in writing and received by the student services office within the first 14 calendar days of the course.
How to Drop Your Class
You may drop and/or request a refund, if eligible, through one of the following methods: in person at the UC Irvine Extension Student Services office, by mailing your written request to UC Irvine Extension Student Services Office, Refunds Dept., P.O. Box 6050, Irvine, CA 92616-6050, by faxing your written request to (949) 824-2090, or e-mailing your request to refund@uci.edu. Please include your name, the name and registration number (Reg #) of your course, and your phone number and/or email address. Please provide the reason for your drop to help us evaluate the quality of our programs and classes. Failure to include all necessary information may delay processing.
If you have any questions, please call (949) 824-5414. UC Irvine Extension refunds back to the original form of payment and to the original cardholder or check payee. Please allow a minimum of three weeks for the processing of your refund if paid by credit card or a minimum four weeks if paid by check or cash.
Candidacy, parking, late and drop fees are not refundable & non-transferable.
